INnovate Dance Event 2018

[Alexa & Mackenzie - Duet "Word Up"]

Our dance season has begun and the excitement is mounting.

This is the 2nd year Synergy Dance Center has participated in the INnovate Dance Event at the Cowles Center, downtown Minneapolis. It's an all day event starting bright and early in the morning. They have several different stations throughout the day including team building, master classes, a service project and performing in front of judges who give some great feedback before their competition season starts. It's not only an amazing event, but an awesome way for the dancers to get the feel of the stage again.

This year, Alexa got to participate the in the Friday evening event, for solos and duets. Her and Mackenzie have been working so hard on their dance and we were excited to see them perform on stage together for the first time. They did so amazing and we are so proud. They had a couple flubs at the end of the dance but both recovered very well. The judges complimented their unison and energy. Their coach, Kris, was so happy with how supportive they were of each other and how well they covered for each other. She was almost in tears saying how evident it is that they are best friends.

Saturday was the true run through for hair and make up for both girls and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. Is it weird to think that our new house had something to do with it? We had so much more space to get ready and didn't wake anyone that didn't need to be up yet in the process.

We dropped the girls off for the day and then had an amazing breakfast with the rest of the dance moms & even some dads at The Hen House. I ordered some extra cinnamon rolls (that they're known for) and brought them back for the teachers who were so kind to send these pictures to us throughout the day.

The judges chose ONE dance from each studio to showcase for the parents. She there were about 6-8 dances we got to see. And Lilli's lyrical dance "City Lights" was chosen from Synergy. So exciting!

There is no denying this year started off a little rocky, but I'm so excited for how far the girls have come, how the teams have developed and the exciting things we have planned coming up. SO READY for comp season!!
