No More Braces

Our sweet 13 year old got her braces off today. After 2 years and 3 months, she can finally flash those pearly whites.

The excitement was almost too much to contain. We gifted her with all her favorites that she hasn't been able to eat for the past 2+ years..popcorn, laffy taffy, gum, gummy worms, etc. I picked her up from school for her appointment and I could feel her energy when she hopped in the car. This was a HUGE day for her. They were ready for her when we walked in and took her back right away. I had to sign a couple papers and by the time I got back to her, her brackets were already being taken off. OH MY!! The rest of the appointment included getting the glue off, attaching her permanent bottom wire and getting fitted for her retainer. The best moment was when she was able to run her tongue along her teeth. She couldn't stop smiling.

Her orthodontist gifted her a bag of caramel corn and snapped a few pictures together. I took her to Caribou for a special treat after and then she spent the rest of the day smiling at herself in the mirror, licking her teeth and texting all her friends who were just dying to see her without braces. I made her popcorn and she dove right into her bag of treats we gave her.

I kept asking to see her smile. I just can't believe how grown up she looks. The 2 years and 3 months went pretty fast and she handled wearing braces very well. She never even broke a bracket. In fact, she actually looked pretty cute in braces. But, nothing compares to the beautiful smile she has now. As if she could get any more perfect.
